Welcome to The Rotary Club of Chatham

Message from President Ravi

It is a great privilege for me to be President of Chatham Rotary founded in 1923 where fellow members are simply inspirational some of who were in the war and some of who come from all walks of life.

The Chatham Rotary as a Charity being the oldest in the town has contributed to a wide range of projects leading to substantial results in individual and social well being over the years. I being GP in Medway Towns for the last 30 yrs I know first hand what it means when the towns suffered deprivation due to closure of various businesses and Dockyard and also gradual disintegration of family structure and social deprivation.

Now the towns are buzzing, we are at the horizon where Chatham history can be told to the whole world if we can secure “Chatham World Heritage Centre” status and if we are able to get “Medway City” status to attract new businesses and promote our new City status as a seat of education with our various universities to make our towns truly belong to Kent as a Garden of England. In this new found breath I as a Rotary President want to create an awareness of this dream by Promoting Walk to School Children Program and many other similar projects with a dual purpose of improving the health and well being of the people to be fit and part of the dream.

I also like Rotary because it is World over fellowship. Rotary embraces every human whether local or global to reach every human to achieve their best to meet their hopes and aspirations and share their sorrows no matter how they caused either by natural disaster or by personal ill health and stand by shoulder to shoulder at the time of their need.

I invite you to join us to share our dreams, come to our Charity Walk on 9th October just to walk or be volunteer or come to our family evenings to register “Friend of Rotary” if you do not want to be a member straight away, just be a volunteer for our “Chatham Rotary Charities of the Year” collections to make that change “To Embrace Humanity”
